A soldier was injured and terrorists remain trapped in an overnight counter-terror operation in Jammu & Kashmir’s Udhampur, with security forces continuing their efforts.

The operation began after intelligence inputs suggested the movement of heavily armed militants in the forested belt of Udhampur district.

According to reports, contact was established late at night, leading to a fierce exchange of fire between the terrorists and the joint security forces comprising the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police. The injured soldier has been shifted to a military hospital and is currently under medical care.

Authorities have confirmed that the area remains under complete cordon, with reinforcements rushed to ensure that the trapped terrorists are neutralized. Drone surveillance and night-vision devices are being used to monitor the terrain and track militant movement.

This operation comes amid heightened security measures in Jammu & Kashmir, as forces remain alert to foil infiltration bids and terror activities ahead of upcoming national and local events. The encounter highlights the ongoing challenge of terrorism in the region, while also showcasing the dedication and sacrifice of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation.

Officials have urged residents of nearby villages to remain indoors until the operation is called off, ensuring civilian safety. Updates from the security forces suggest that the encounter could extend further, depending on resistance from the terrorists.
