Russia says it is “proud to have stood shoulder to shoulder with India during its historic growth” ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s December 2025 visit, signalling renewed momentum in trade, defence, technology and strategic cooperation between the two long-standing partners.
As both countries prepare for the first high-level summit since 2021, Moscow has reiterated that India is one of its most trusted strategic partners. Discussions are expected to cover a full spectrum of cooperation — from defence manufacturing to energy security, technology, cultural exchanges and efforts to balance bilateral trade.
Russia has also acknowledged the ongoing trade imbalance and expressed willingness to increase imports from India, including goods and services. Defence collaboration, especially in advanced systems and co-production, remains a key pillar. With global geopolitics shifting, Russia views India as a stable partner with an independent foreign policy, while India sees Russia as a reliable defence and energy ally.
This visit is expected to revive the tradition of annual summits and shape the next phase of the India–Russia strategic partnership.
