The Kulgam encounter in Jammu and Kashmir has entered its ninth consecutive day, with security forces engaged in intense operations to flush out militants hiding in the area. Two soldiers were martyred during the gunfight, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced in counter-terrorism operations in the Valley.
According to defence officials, the prolonged encounter began last week when intelligence inputs indicated the presence of heavily armed militants in the area. The operation has seen multiple exchanges of fire, with militants reportedly using the dense forest cover to evade capture.
The martyred soldiers have been identified, and tributes are pouring in from across the country for their bravery and sacrifice. Security agencies are continuing their search with the aim to completely neutralise the militant threat.
Residents in nearby villages have been advised to stay indoors, as the situation remains tense. The incident is yet another reminder of the volatility in the region and the relentless efforts of the Indian security forces to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
