Poll Body Refutes Rahul Gandhi’s Claims of Voter Data Theft

The Election Commission firmly denies Rahul Gandhi's claims of voter data theft, calling them baseless and politically motivated.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent accusations regarding alleged manipulation and theft of voter information in key constituencies, the poll body has issued a detailed clarification. The Commission emphasized that all electoral processes are conducted with transparency, adherence to law, and strong data protection measures.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged that voter data, especially in urban constituencies, was being stolen and manipulated to favor the ruling party in the upcoming 2025 general elections. He claimed there was a coordinated effort involving government agencies and certain tech firms to target specific demographics.

However, the Election Commission responded strongly, stating that these allegations lack any credible evidence and only serve to undermine the integrity of Indian democracy. In its official communication, the Commission reiterated that all voter data is securely managed under the Representation of the People Act, and any claim of theft or misuse is “entirely unfounded.”

The Commission further invited the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi to provide any specific evidence they possess so that it may be investigated officially. It also reminded political leaders to refrain from making unverified public statements that may erode public trust in democratic institutions.

Analysts suggest this standoff is part of an intensifying pre-election narrative, with both sides trying to mobilize support and highlight electoral concerns. The EC’s firm denial signals its intent to uphold procedural integrity ahead of the crucial elections in 2025.
