A tragic road accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district claimed the lives of three CRPF personnel and left 15 others injured, raising concerns over the safety of troop transportation in the region.
The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying CRPF jawans skidded off the road and overturned near the Battal Ballian area in Udhampur on Thursday morning. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control due to a sharp turn or possible brake failure, although official confirmation is awaited.
All injured personnel were immediately rushed to the district hospital, with some reported to be in critical condition. Emergency teams, including local police and CRPF officials, launched swift rescue and evacuation operations. Senior officers have reached the spot to assess the situation and oversee medical assistance.
The CRPF convoy was reportedly en route as part of a regular deployment routine. Authorities have initiated a detailed inquiry into the cause of the accident. The incident has brought attention once again to the often treacherous and hilly terrain in the region that puts the lives of security forces at risk during routine movements.
Condolences have poured in from across the country, including from political leaders and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CRPF has assured that adequate support is being provided to the families of the deceased and the injured personnel.
More updates are expected as investigations proceed.
