Bezos' response to the Polymarket post
On Thursday, Polymarket put out a post on Twitter saying that Bezos recently advised "aspiring Gen Z entrepreneurs" to start working in "real-world jobs" like McDonald's or Palantir first and start their own business later.
A few hours later, the Amazon founder replied to the post saying that he had never said anything like this, and wondered why Polymarket made such a statement.
In the midst of this scrutiny, a video surfaced in which Bezos is giving advice to the youth at Italian Tech Week. But this conversation is about three months old and in it, Bezos did not mention any of the companies mentioned by Polymarket.
"I always advise young people — work for a company that follows best practices, where you can learn basic things," he said. These 10 years of experience increased the chances that Amazon would be successful. ”
This week's events were special because Bezos himself came forward and called Polymarket's claims false.
At the same time, the track record of predictive markets spreading misinformation on social media is becoming a cause for constant concern.
