The Indian military's latest initiative, Operation Sindoor, has been welcomed as a reflection of the country's increased defense technology self-reliance. Kick-started as a reaction to increasing asymmetric threats, the operation is testimony to India's emphasis on building indigenous systems in issues relating to national security.
Operation Sindoor, as stated by the Ministry of Defence, was a "calibrated military response" against terrorist infrastructures without violating the Line of Control or international borders. The operation utilized cutting-edge Indian technologies, representing a huge step towards being self-reliant in terms of military operations.
After the operation, Pakistan launched retaliatory attacks in many areas, such as Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, and others, via drones and missiles. India's Integrated Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) grid along with air defense systems countered these attempts quite successfully. Of particular note, systems that are made in the country, such as the Akash missile system, showcased impressive performance in neutralizing incoming threats.
The Indian Air Force's Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) played a key role in orchestrating these defense efforts, with a net-centric operational capability vital for war in the twenty-first century.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking to personnel at the Adampur Air Force Station, praised the armed forces for their accuracy and restraint. He made it a point that Indian military efforts were a reaction to the provocations of terrorists and pointed out the country's determination to end threats definitively. Modi also reconfirmed India's disapproval of nuclear blackmail and non-dialogue with terrorism-harboring nations.
Operation Sindoor also highlighted woman leadership in the army. Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, who led the operation, were both appreciated for their exemplary service, which is reflective of India's secular, diverse nature.
The exercise, which lasted 23 minutes, involved missile attacks by Indian Air Force planes on terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh declared that at least 100 militants were eliminated in the strikes.
Overall, Operation Sindoor is a landmark milestone in Indian defence history that showcases the nation's strategic acumen, technological capability, and unwavering dedication to national security.
