Rajya Sabha Nominee Ujjwal Nikam Recalls Heartfelt Talk with PM Modi

Renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam shares a memorable conversation with Prime Minister Modi after being nominated to the Rajya Sabha, highlighting a deep bond and respect.

In a heartfelt reflection following his nomination, Ujjwal Nikam revealed that PM Modi personally called him to convey the news. Nikam, who is best known for handling high-profile cases like the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, expressed deep emotion as he recounted the interaction. “Modiji told me he has been following my career for decades and respects the work I’ve done in service of justice,” Nikam said.

The call was not merely political—it was personal. Nikam shared how Modi praised his decades-long dedication, and offered words of encouragement that moved him. “It wasn’t a formal conversation—it felt like a talk between two individuals who care deeply about the nation,” he noted.

Nikam's nomination to the Rajya Sabha is seen as recognition not just for his legal contributions but for the values he upholds. Political analysts say this move symbolizes the government’s emphasis on bringing domain experts into policy-making. Nikam said he intends to raise legal reforms and victim rights issues in Parliament.

As he prepares for his new role, Nikam remains grounded. “This is not a reward—it’s a responsibility,” he said. “I will speak for the voiceless, just as I’ve done in cour

trooms.”
