Former MLA Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai: Police Probe Lawrence Bishnoi Gang's Involvement

Former MLA of Maharashtra and NCP Leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday morning in Bandra, sending shockwaves across the city. The 61-year-old leader, known for his deep connections across political circles and his philanthropy, was attacked outside his office by unidentified gunmen.

The Mumbai Police are investigating into the possible role of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in the murder of former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique. Baba Siddique was good friends with Salman Khan, the Bollywood actor who had already been threatened by Lawrence Bishnoi's cronies, threatening to kill him the way singer Sidhu Moosewala had killed.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, in Kher Nagar, Mumbai, three guys attacked and shot Baba Siddique outside his son's workplace. After being brought to Lilavati Hospital, he was declared dead.  Baba Siddique was a well-known Muslim politician from Mumbai who was also well-known for being connected to a number of Bollywood actors, including Sanjay Dutt and Shah Rukh Khan.  Three-time Bandra West MLA Baba Siddique had resigned from the Congress earlier in February of this year and joined Ajit Pawar's NCP.

According to the police, two suspects from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have been taken into custody, and the third suspect has escaped.  According to the police, Baba Siddique's protection was upgraded to the Y category fifteen days ago following a threat to his life.

The possible involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Siddique's murder has raised fresh concerns about the growing influence of organized crime in India. The gang has been linked to multiple extortion cases, targeted killings, and high-profile threats in recent years.

Experts have called for increased vigilance and cooperation between state and central agencies to combat the spread of organized crime. "This incident highlights the need for better coordination between states to address the operations of these criminal networks," said former police officer Rakesh Maria.

As the investigation continues, the city of Mumbai remains in shock, grappling with the loss of a well-respected leader. Police have promised swift action and are expected to make several arrests in the coming days. The murder of Baba Siddique has not only left a political void but also raised critical questions about the security of public figures in India
