Kerala, known for its progressive social policies and high human development index, is preparing to make a landmark announcement — declaring the entire state “poverty-free” on November 1, 2025. This declaration aligns with the Kerala government’s long-term vision to ensure social justice and equitable growth for all citizens.
The initiative was carried out under the “Navakeralam” mission, which focused on uplifting marginalized families through targeted welfare schemes, financial inclusion, housing support, and access to healthcare and education. The government verified data across all districts to ensure that no eligible family was left behind in the poverty eradication mission.
Officials noted that Kerala’s poverty alleviation success is a result of consistent efforts in improving public health, literacy, and social security measures. The state’s decentralization model empowered local bodies to identify and assist underprivileged households effectively.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is expected to make the official announcement on Kerala Piravi Day, symbolizing a new chapter in the state’s journey toward sustainable human development. This move could serve as a national model for other Indian states aiming to achieve similar socio-economic p
rogress.
