The case of the alleged rape and murder of a young doctor in Kolkata has taken another twist, with the BJP releasing a fresh video featuring the victim's parents. The video, which was shared widely across social media platforms, has sparked renewed public outcry and intensified political tensions in West Bengal. As the deceased doctor's family members showed up at RG Kar hospital on Wednesday night to join doctors in protest, they accused the Kolkata Police of attempting to suppress the case by quickly cremating the body.

The father of the deceased said, "We wanted to keep the body of our daughter but great pressure was placed on us and the body was incinerated." Additionally, he claimed that when his daughter's body was sent home following an autopsy but before being cremated, a senior police officer approached him and made a monetary offer.

At a press conference on Thursday, West Bengal's minister for women's and child development, Shashi Panja, stated that the government would not perform a "postmortem" on the parents' remarks.  At a media briefing, she stated, "We respect what the family is saying—they have lost their daughter." She additionally urged the federal government police, who took over the inquiry last month, to expedite the investigation's conclusion and "expose the truth."

As the Kolkata doctor rape-murder case continues to unfold, the release of the video by the BJP has added a new layer of complexity to an already tense situation.
