A passenger train collided with a stationary goods train near Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, leaving two people injured. Railway authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred late on Thursday night when the passenger train, heading toward Bilaspur Junction, rammed into a parked goods train on the same track. The impact caused damage to several coaches and engines, injuring two passengers who were later rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Railway officials immediately reached the spot, and rescue operations were initiated to assist the injured and clear the track. Train services on the affected route were temporarily halted, causing delays in several express and freight services passing through the Bilaspur division.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a possible signal failure or human error may have led to the mishap. The railway department has ordered a high-level inquiry to determine the exact cause and prevent such accidents in the future.
This is not the first time a rail mishap has occurred in the region; similar incidents have raised concerns over track management and safety protocols in the Bilaspur division of South East Central Railway. Authorities have assured that safety measures will be strengthened to avoid recurrence.
