Manipal Hospitals Acquires Medica Synergie, Solidifying Presence in Eastern India

Manipal Hospitals, India's second-largest healthcare chain, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire an 87% stake in Medica Synergie, a leading Kolkata-based hospital chain. This strategic move aligns with Manipal Hospitals' vision to solidify its footprint and emerge as the undisputed leader in Eastern India's healthcare landscape.

Strengthening Eastern India's Healthcare Infrastructure

The acquisition, valued at approximately Rs 1,400 crore, signifies a significant step towards expanding Manipal Hospitals' reach and service offerings in the eastern region. By integrating Medica Synergie's clinical expertise and infrastructure into its extensive network, Manipal Hospitals aims to address the growing demand for high-quality tertiary and quaternary healthcare services in Eastern India.

Dilip Jose, MD and CEO of Manipal Hospitals, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition:

"We are delighted to welcome Medica Synergie and its team of talented professionals into the Manipal family. This strategic move strengthens our presence in Eastern India, enabling us to expand our reach and cater to the critical healthcare needs of this region."

Enhanced Healthcare Delivery Across Eastern India

The combined entity will operate under the Manipal Hospitals brand, offering exceptional quality healthcare services across Kolkata, Siliguri, Ranchi, and other key cities in Eastern India. This integration is poised to significantly benefit patients by providing them with improved access to advanced medical care.

Becoming India's Largest Hospital Chain

With the acquisition of Medica Synergie, Manipal Hospitals will now treat a staggering 7 million patients annually across 37 hospitals spread strategically across 19 cities in 14 Indian states. This expansion also pushes the company's bed count to over 10,500, potentially making it the largest hospital chain in India.

A Commitment to Clinical Excellence and Patient Care

Backed by a talented pool of over 5,600 doctors and a workforce exceeding 18,600 employees, Manipal Hospitals remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering clinical excellence, patient-centric care, and ethical practices. This acquisition marks another significant milestone in the company's journey to revolutionize healthcare across India.
