Bareilly, 5 March 2024: The court has determined that Maulana Tauqeer Raza was the person responsible for the riots that occurred in Bareilly. Maulana Tauqeer Raza is the primary defendant in the case that pertains to the violence that occurred within the premises of the court. The court has now issued a summons to Tauqeer Raza, and it has ordered him to appear for the subsequent hearing, which is scheduled to take place on March 11. The court has also issued a reprimand to the administrative officials and law enforcement officers who were present during the riots. ADG, IG, SSP, Commissioner, and DM have all been deemed negligent by the court in this particular investigation. The order was issued by Ravi Kumar Diwakar, who is the first judge of the Additional Sessions.

 

In March of 2010, riots broke out in Meerut as a direct result of the speech that Tauqeer Raza, the chief of the Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC), delivered. The mob targeted a specific neighborhood and set fire to a number of businesses, including the police station, the gas station, the vegetable market, and many shops. A curfew was imposed in Bareilly for a period of 27 days because members of a particular community were responsible for the looting of houses. It was due to the carelessness of the officials that Tauqeer Raza was able to make his escape in this particular instance.
