Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dhami announced Rs 1 lakh each for 41 rescued workers


On November 28, 2023, 41 workers were successfully rescued from the Silkyara Tunnel temple construction site. The tunnel was collapsed on Saturday, 11 November 2023. Over the course of a nearly 17-day multi-agency rescue operation, all 41 of the laborers who had become trapped in the tunnel were freed. construction of temple at Silkyara tunnel.

 

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that none of the 41 laborers who were saved from an impermanent road tunnel in the Uttarkashi district were in a critical condition. Dhami met the rescued workers from the Silkyara tunnel on November 28, 2023. 

 

Dhami added that the youngest laborers were the first to be evacuated. "All of them were fit and they crawled out of the passage on their own. Who were left stranded in the Silkyara tunnel for nearly 17 days following the collapse of a section of the structure on November 12 as a result of a landslide, will be monitored medically before being returned home."

 

Sri Dhami expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering encouragement and support throughout the rescue effort.


The chief minister declared that each of the 41 construction workers would receive Rs 1 lakh. He added that the tunnels being built in the hill state would be examined and the Baukhnag temple would be rebuilt.

 

Dhami praised the manual miners for completing the task, stating that the auger machines used in the operation encountered difficulties on multiple occasions.
