In the group clash against RR, GT captain Shubman Gill, who is just 24 years and 215 days old, surpassed RCB star Virat Kohli's record to become the youngest batsman in the Indian Premier League to reach 3000 runs. Gill became the fourth fastest batsman in IPL history to reach the milestone in just 94 innings. At 26 years and 186 days, Kohli held the record for the youngest person to reach 3000 runs, but Gill beat him at 24 years and 215 days. Additionally, Gill became the second fastest Indian in IPL history to amass 3000 runs. 

The fastest Indian to do so was KL Rahul, who did it in 80 innings as opposed to Gill's 94. Gill is on pace to surpass Chris Gayle (75) and KL Rahul (80) to reach 3000 IPL runs. It took 94 innings for Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill and Faf du Plessis to achieve this feat. When you join the ranks of great players like Chris Gayle, KL Rahul and Jos Buttler - who have scored 3,000 runs in fewer innings - Gill's achievement is even more remarkable. Gill's success also extends beyond the IPL; he crossed 4000 T20 runs and showed his versatility and skill in various formats.

Gill is not only successful but has also contributed significantly to his debut GT franchise in 2022. With over 1,500 IPL runs for GT alone, Gill has cemented his position as a mainstay in the team's batting order. His ability to lead innings and deliver game-winning hits was crucial to GT's performance in the competition.

Barring an 89-run innings against Punjab Kings, Gill's IPL 2024 has been lackluster. His inconsistent play hurt the success of Gujarat Titans, the team he took over as captain after Hardik Pandya was traded to Mumbai Indians. Titans fell to CSK despite defeating MI earlier in the season. They then returned to Ahmedabad to defeat SRH but were defeated by LSG. With RR currently, the Titans hope to move up in the points standings with a win. Rajasthan set a target of 197 runs, 68 and 76 from Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag respectively.
