Former England captain Eoin Morgan has noted Rishabh Pant's quick recovery from a horrific car accident and feels Pant's X-factor justifies his selection in India's T20 World Cup squad. Pant showed promise despite missing 14 months of action. He has scored two half-centuries in just five matches and has an impressive strike rate of 154.54. While Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Jitesh Sharma are among the other contenders for the keeper-batsman role, Pant's outstanding IPL performance has elevated him to the front of the pack. When asked why he thinks Pant is better than his rivals, Morgan gave a clear explanation. Because he is the player he is (I would pick him). I don't think his recovery from the car accident will be hindered in any way. He's a really disruptive player in my opinion. Unlike generic right-handers, he can generate a lot of pressure as a left-hander and play a key role in the middle order,” the ODI World Cup winner remarked in reply. when asked by PTI during a meeting organised by Jio Cinema.  

In the first week of May, selectors will finalise India's squad for the T20 World Cup, with veteran Virat Kohli certain to make the final 15. An astute leader himself, Morgan says Kohli's performance in the current IPL cannot be questioned, especially given the lack of support from other Tests . While the competition is still young, Kohli leads the batting stats after scoring 316 runs in just five innings at a strike rate of 146.29. Despite Kohli's incredible performance, RCB is at the bottom of the table, mostly due to the stupendous performances of other players.

"It's quite a stretch to criticise a player for wearing an orange cap when other batsmen are not producing runs. I think that's pointless. Why should I hold someone responsible for the most runs when RCB are struggling with bowling and the rest of the batting? Morgan asked.
