Terrorist Killed in Baramulla Encounter After Two Soldiers Martyred in Kishtwar, Ahead of PM Modi's Kashmir Visit

Tensions escalated in Jammu and Kashmir as security forces neutralized a terrorist in an encounter in Baramulla, just hours after two Indian Army soldiers were killed in an exchange of fire with militants in Kishtwar. These incidents come on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s highly anticipated visit to the region, raising security concerns in the valley.

The encounter broke out hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hit the poll campaign trail in support of his party candidates on Saturday by addressing a mega rally in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, amid tight security arrangements. This will be the first visit by a prime minister to Doda in the last 42 years. For the election rally that will take place in the stadium in Doda town, multiple layers of security have been deployed throughout the twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar, especially around the venue.

In a post on X, the Kashmir Zone Police stated, "An encounter has begun at the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan region of Baramulla." Security and police personnel are on the scene, and more information will be provided later.

With Prime Minister Modi’s visit set to commence today, all eyes are on Kashmir as the government moves to address both security challenges and the broader development agenda in the troubled region.
