3 UPSC Aspirants died in flooding at Delhi’s Coaching Center

On Saturday, after being stuck in the flooded basement of a coaching center in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, three students passed away. The three victims' bodies were recovered by the local police and the rescue crews of the NDRF a few hours after the region had flooded.

The identities of the three victims are Nivin Dalwin from Ernakulam, Kerala; Tanya Soni from Telangana; and Shreya Yadav from Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.  According to the Delhi police, the victims' bodies have currently been taken to the RML mortuary.

Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, the Delhi fire department received a complaint about waterlogging at the Rao IAS Study Centre and the Karol Bagh neighborhood, claiming two or three students were trapped in a flooded basement, according to the police. When they got there, the basement was completely flooded. The road water eventually receded, making it possible to lower the water level from 12 feet to eight feet and rescue the students' remains. Initially, the efforts to pump out the water were hindered by rainwater continuing to run into the basement.

About 30 students were in the coaching center; 12 to 14 were saved and transported to a hospital, while the remaining students could get away.

The owner and coordinator of the coaching center were being held by the police, and a criminal complaint was filed concerning the student's deaths.
