Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and the Ax-4 crew are set to depart the International Space Station (ISS) on July 14, marking another historic moment in India’s space journey.

After successfully completing their scheduled tasks aboard the ISS, the Ax-4 crew—part of Axiom Space’s fourth private astronaut mission—will begin their journey back to Earth. The mission has garnered international attention due to Shukla’s prominent role as one of the first Indian astronauts on a commercial spaceflight to the ISS.

The return journey will be carried out aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, which initially launched the Ax-4 team into orbit earlier this year. The capsule is expected to splash down in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida after re-entry, pending weather conditions.

Shukla’s participation has not only been a proud moment for India but also a major milestone for the growing collaboration between Indian talent and private space ventures globally. His performance during the mission is being lauded for precision, teamwork, and scientific contributions in microgravity experiments.

Axiom Space and partner organizations have confirmed that the departure and landing will be live-streamed, allowing people across the globe to witness the event. The return marks the end of a mission that has inspired countless aspiring astronauts in India and around th

e world.
