7 September 2025, JAIPUR: The four-day 'Gau Mahakumbh', or Great Cow Congregation, held at Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium, has been hailed as a unique and unprecedented event in India’s history. The magnificent gathering focused on the importance of cow care and the conservation of bovine species.

Attending as a special guest, Dr. D.P. Sharma, a digital diplomat associated with the United Nations, an international scientist, and the Prime Minister’s Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Mission, addressed the gathering. Dr. Sharma stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a strong nation on the global stage. He said that the Prime Minister wants to extend this momentum by taking the significance of the cow in Indian culture and the concept of Panchgavya (the five products of the cow) to every corner of the world. He noted that a few years ago, the Prime Minister had also invited the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros, to India to demonstrate how India's indigenous knowledge practices, particularly Ayurveda and Panchgavya, can be established as a viable alternative medical system for the world.

Dr. Sharma emphasized that the 'Gau Mahakumbh' has set a new precedent for environmental protection and the Swachh Bharat Mission. He announced that he would send a detailed report of the event to the Prime Minister’s Office, hoping that the Prime Minister would take a personal decision to launch a major mission based on this initiative.

Accompanying Dr. Sharma was Rotarian Pragya Mehta, a notable figure in India’s cow-rearing projects. As the District Governor of Rotary Club 3056, Mehta asserted that for India to strengthen its economic position and make its farmers self-reliant, cow-rearing must be scientifically re-established. She believes the Mahakumbh will prove to be a new milestone in this direction, and the Rotary Club will provide all possible assistance by leveraging its international network to promote cow-rearing and the production of cow-based products.

Saving Humanity and Health Through Indigenous Practices

Dr. Sharma underscored a key message: “In the era of global marketization, health and humanity can only be saved through the cow, its products, and Ayurveda.”
During the event, Dr. Sharma, accompanied by other key figures, including the Chief Advisor of the organizing committee, Dr. P.M. Bharadwaj (a former MD/CMD of four public sector units), the committee's President, Dr. Lal Singh, and the Executive Director, Yudhaveer Sharma, visited the exhibition. Dr. Sharma lauded the cow products on display, stating that "it seems Mother Cow has once again opened her arms to bless the land of India, and we should welcome this and join this project with our body, mind, and wealth."

Economic Empowerment and Self-Reliance

Dr. P.M. Bharadwaj, the Chief Advisor, explained that the 'Gau Mahakumbh' was not just a religious gathering but a powerful platform for a cow-based economy and self-reliance. The event showcased products derived from Gau Gavya—milk, curd, ghee, cow urine, and dung. Dr. Bharadwaj stressed the need to establish Gau Gavya processing units to create new employment opportunities.

Dr. Lal Singh, President of the organizing committee, presented a detailed roadmap for the Gokul Gram (Cow Village) structure, which includes skill development and financial planning alongside cow conservation. The goal is to position the bovine species not just as livestock but as the backbone of the rural economy. This event has taken a significant step toward creating new jobs, which is a positive initiative.

Dr. Bharadwaj concluded that the 'Gau Mahakumbh' has not only ignited a passion for cow care but has also demonstrated how India can build a prosperous and self-reliant future by blending its cultural and traditional heritage with modern technology and economic models. As the founder of the Bharadwaj Foundation in Jaipur, his vision is to see India re-emerge as the "Golden Bird" and a "Vishwa Guru," or world leader, by restoring its culture and giving importance to the cow.
