The state government released advance and special summer assistance to women ahead of Assembly elections.

Amount Credited Directly to Bank Accounts; Promise to Double Monthly Assistance if Re-Elected

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin announced Rs 5,000 assistance for 1.31 crore women beneficiaries. Shortly after this announcement, Stalin also fulfilled his promise.

In Tamil Nadu, Rs 5,000 each was deposited in the accounts of women beneficiaries at 6 am today. CM Stalin along with his announcement also promised that if he is re-elected, this monthly assistance amount will be increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.

Women get Rs 5,000

Addressing the women of the state, CM Stalin said, "The government has released Rs 5,000 for every woman among 1.31 crore women beneficiaries. This amount includes Rs 3,000 as advance payment for February, March and April and Rs 2,000 as a special package for summer help.

"This money was directly deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, so that financial help could be provided without any interruption," Stalin said.

"No political or administrative obstruction will be allowed to delay or reduce the assistance given to women across the state," the CM said.

CM Stalin accused some people of trying to stop the payment for some time for three months, citing the upcoming elections.

CM Stalin announced that monthly financial assistance for women is not a good deed, but it is a matter of their rights. Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are due in April-May this year.
