But the BJP's lotus bloomed here for the first time in the Modi wave last time. Naveen Jindal, a two-time MP from the seat, came third. There are a total of 9 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Kurukshetra. The constituencies are Ladwa, Shahabad, Thanesar, Pehowa, Radaur, Guhla, Kalayat, Kaithal and Pundri.

Kurukshetra has been described at many places in the Rigveda and Yajurveda, the mythical river Saraswati here also has special significance.
