Former UP CM, former BJP president, MP from Lucknow, Now Rajnath has taken oath as a minister in the Modi government 3.0

Rajnath Singh was sworn in as the home minister of India for the third time in a row. He was earlier the state president of the BJP and a former chief minister. Rajnath Singh has also served as the agriculture minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Rajnath Singh started his political career in 1974 and was first elected as an MLA in 1977. After becoming an MLC in 1988, he became the Education Minister of UP in 1991. During this time he took many revolutionary decisions. In 1994, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha. After this, he was made the Union Transport Minister for the first time in 1999. He launched Atal Bihari Vajpayee's dream project, the National Highway Development Programme (NHDP). In October 2000, he was elected Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. During this time, he was elected MLA from Haidergarh seat of Barabanki.

 

Minister of Agriculture in 2003


In May 2003, he was made the Union Minister for Agriculture and Food Processing. During this time, he launched the Kisan Call Centre and the Kisan Income Insurance Scheme. Rajnath Singh was the national president of the BJP from December 2005 to 2009. In 2009, hewas elected to the Lok Sabha from Ghaziabad.

 

Rajnath Singh takes charge as Defence Minister


After being elected from Lucknow, he took oath as a cabinet minister in 2014. During this time he was given the responsibility of the Home Ministry. In 2019, when Rajnath Singh was re-elected from Lucknow, he was given the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense. Now once again Rajnath Singh has taken oath as a cabinet minister.

 

Rajnath Singh has won from Lucknow for the third time

 

Rajnath Singh is seeking re-election from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat for the third time. He has defeated Samajwadi Party's Ravidas Mehrotra by about one lakh 35 thousand votes. While Rajnath got six lakh 12 thousand 709 votes, Ravidas got four lakh 77 thousand 550 votes. Earlier, he had won the Lucknow seat in 2014 and 2019.
