A car driven by an unidentified person breached the security cordon in the Delhi Assembly premises. The car broke through a gate of the iron boundary of the complex and entered inside. There he kept the bouquet near the Speaker's office and then escaped from there. Speaker Vijender Gupta was also in the Assembly at the time of the incident.

At 1:32 pm, the Speaker went towards the office of the Education Department, after stopping there for about 20 minutes, the Speaker returned to the Assembly premises along with other officials. At around 2:10 pm, the accused entered the assembly premises with a car, the accused had a bouquet, a necklace and a bag. According to assembly sources, the assembly speaker is expected to be recce in advance.

The incident comes shortly after bomb threats were received to blow up the assembly during the recently concluded budget session, raising concerns about security preparedness at the high-profile complex.
