Betul is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in Madhya Pradesh state in Central India. There are 8 assembly constituencies under Betul Lok Sabha constituency. The assembly seats are Harsud, Betul, Amla, Ghodadongri, Betul, Amla, Multai and Timarni.
The first election to Betul Lok Sabha seat was held in 1951. The Congress won the first two elections. The Congress also won this seat in the 1967 and 1971 elections. In the 1977 elections, the seat went with the Congress and the Bharatiya Lok Dal won it for the first time. However, in 1980, the Congress returned to the seat and Gufran Azam became its MP. The Congress won the next election in 1984. The BJP won here for the first time in 1989. Arif Baig defeated Aslam Sherkhan of the Congress to give the BJP its first win here.
