India Coaching Search Wide Open As Laxman Follows Dravid in Opting Out

The hunt for India's next cricket coach is in disarray. VVS Laxman, seen as a frontrunner, has opted out following Rahul Dravid's decision to resign. The BCCI might explore overseas options like Stephen Fleming, but nothing is confirmed.

India Coaching Search Wide Open As Laxman Follows Dravid in Opting Out

The hunt for India's next head coach after Rahul Dravid's departure is taking an unexpected turn. Reports suggest that another Indian cricket great, VVS Laxman, is unlikely to throw his hat in the ring for the coveted position.

Earlier, Dravid had informed the BCCI of his decision to step down after the upcoming T20 World Cup. He had previously extended his tenure despite personal reasons, but it seems he is now firm on his decision.

Laxman, who heads the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and was seen as a frontrunner to succeed Dravid, has reportedly decided against applying. This leaves the BCCI's coaching search wide open, with speculation rife about the possibility of an overseas candidate taking the reins for the first time in a long time.

The BCCI has reportedly shown interest in former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, known for his successful stint as the Chennai Super Kings' IPL coach. However, the rumors have been denied by the CSK management.

With both Dravid and Laxman out of the picture, the BCCI has a crucial decision to make. They will need to identify a coach who can maintain the momentum of the Indian team and help them achieve further success on the world stage. The coming weeks will be interesting as the application process unfolds and the contenders for this prestigious role becomeclearer.
