Scheduled Castes will now be given a 20% promotion preference in Group A and B government positions in Haryana. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar made the statement on Monday, August 29, 2023, during the ongoing Vidhan Sabha session.

Previously, the quota was limited to group C and D spots, leaving SCs out of higher A and B promotions.

Khattar stated in the Assembly that the Supreme Court had urged states to investigate SC membership across cadres. This quota is being implemented after data analysis, he stated.

According to the administration, the measure intends to increase opportunities for higher-level advancement for all reserved categories. A roster system is being developed in preparation for effective adoption.

According to the administration, the groundbreaking decision to issue A and B post quotas reflects the government's commitment to a more diversified administrative setup and has a good influence on community representation. According to the Government, "this move will have a positive impact on the representation of various communities within the government workforce."
