On Saturday, 3 February 2024, Actress and model Poonam Pandey stated that she is still alive, despite her manager's previous claim that she passed away from cervical cancer. She apologized in videos to her fans and followers for what she called "shocking" them.

"Yes, I am still here. Cervical cancer did not claim my life. Regretfully, I am unable to make the same statement regarding the thousands upon thousands of women who have lost their lives as a result of cervical cancer." she said in a video posted on Instagram.

Many were taken aback by the news on Friday, and some initially questioned whether the post was fake. In an interview with News18, Poonam's team also confirmed the news, stating, "She passed away last night." Parul Chawla, Poonam's manager, also informed ANI that the model had passed away.

Poonam disclosed that the purpose of her drastic gesture was to start a dialogue about cervical cancer, a subject that is frequently disregarded. She highlighted how her strategy had been successful in raising awareness of this illness, saying "All of a sudden, cervical cancer is on everyone's minds, is it not? It's a disease that steals lives covertly, and it desperately needed attention."
