Adriana Maria Cargo Ship: Redefining Sustainable Shipping for Amer Shipping's Expanding Fleet
Adriana Maria Cargo Ship

The latest addition to Amer Shipping’s Raamsdonksveer fleet is the dry-cargo vessel 'Adriana Maria'. It's a versatile ship, functional even at low water levels, thanks to the cutting-edge 'CDS 110' hull design by Concordia Damen, inspired by the Parsifal tankers created by the same shipyard. The 110-meter-long vessel can accommodate 200 tonnes more cargo compared to similar ships. During its official sea trial on February 8, all expectations were surpassed: the hull design excelled in fuel consumption versus speed, achieving a speed of 20 km/h with a fuel consumption of 230 liters per hour. The ship's low drag, fast sailing capabilities, and significantly reduced fuel consumption earned it the prestigious 'Gold Label' from the Green Award. The sea trial, carrying Bestone® cargo for Graniet Import Benelux BV in Amsterdam, was a success, meeting all standards and even exceeding expectations on noise and vibration levels.

The commissioning of the Adriana Maria now boosts Amer Shipping's fleet to 58 vessels, comprising dry cargo ships, container and bunker vessels, and related crafts. The company annually transports approximately 8.5 million tonnes of cargo, primarily raw materials and materials for construction projects, along with project cargo for various sectors.

Amer Shipping, operating chiefly in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, and Switzerland, is rapidly expanding its fleet with a focus on sustainable ships. Following Adriana Maria, a second 'CDS Dry Cargo 110' by Concordia Damen is slated to be built. This ship will carry the name of Jan's wife, Adriana Maria, who is Peter Buijks' brother and co-owner of Amer Shipping. The ship aims to set a new standard in terms of fuel efficiency, emissions, and operational versatility, ensuring a sustainable future for shipping.
