Bollywood action star John Abraham is all set to portray the iconic police officer Rakesh Maria in an upcoming biopic directed by Rohit Shetty. Known for his dynamic roles in action-packed films, John will step into the shoes of one of Mumbai's most celebrated cops, famous for cracking some of India's most high-profile cases.

Rakesh Maria played a pivotal role in investigating the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts, the tragic 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the Sheena Bora murder case, and the 2008 Indian Mujahideen case. His sharp investigative skills and fearless approach made him a legendary figure in Indian law enforcement.

The film marks several firsts — it's the first collaboration between John Abraham and Rohit Shetty and also Rohit's debut biopic. Known for his blockbuster cop universe, Shetty clarifies that this film will stand apart from his popular franchise, focusing solely on Maria's real-life journey rather than a fictional narrative.

Shooting for the film is scheduled to begin in March 2025 and will continue through June. After wrapping up the biopic, Rohit Shetty will dive into filming the next season of his hit reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, followed by the much-anticipated Golmaal 5.
