Coldplay Thanks Ahmedabad for Hosting Their Biggest-Ever Concert: ‘Totally Mind-Blowing’

On Saturday, Coldplay made history by playing their largest-ever show in Ahmedabad. The British rock group rocked the Motera region's Narendra Modi Stadium, which can hold over a million people.

The band's official X handle posted a photo of Coldplay's performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with the message, "Our largest ever concert." Astounding. Ahmedabad, thank you. (sparkle emoji) If you are in India, please join us on Disney+ Hotstar starting at 7.45 p.m. (red heart emoji). See you tomorrow. On Sunday, Coldplay will play another show at the same location, this time one of its largest to date. In honour of Republic Day, this show will be livestreamed on Disney+ Hotstar in India.

Coldplay shared another image from the stadium earlier on Saturday, this one including a cricket ball and the words "Ahmedabad, 1/25". Even Jasprit might find it difficult to bowl with this clumsily sketched ball, but at least it is nearly spherical, the caption read. Being here at this incredible stadium and performing in Ahmedabad for the first time is a delight. From their Mumbai concerts, Coldplay continues giving shoutouts to the beloved sport of cricket. Chris Martin, the frontman of Coldplay, played a video during one of their performances in Mumbai earlier this month that showed how Jasprit Bumrah's balling "destroyed" their home country of England and helped India win a cricket match.

The concert, part of their Music of the Spheres world tour, featured a setlist filled with fan favorites like Fix You, Paradise, Yellow, and Viva La Vida, alongside tracks from their latest album. The stadium came alive with a dazzling display of lights, pyrotechnics, and synchronized wristbands that created a magical sea of colors.

Fans, some of whom traveled from across the country, described the concert as a "once-in-a-lifetime experience."

The Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium, was transformed into a music haven for the night. With its massive capacity, it proved to be the ideal venue for an event of this magnitude.

This marked Coldplay’s first-ever performance in Gujarat, and it’s safe to say that they made an indelible mark. The band’s frontman, Chris Martin, even charmed the audience with a few lines in Gujarati, eliciting cheers and applause.

Following three shows in Mumbai, Coldplay will wrap up their Music of the Spheres India tour with a second performance in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The stadium, which is the biggest cricket stadium in the world, would have up to 3,825 police officers stationed inside and outside. The complex security setup includes a team from the National Security Guard, a special military unit.
