Buddha Jayanti Park
Buddha Jayanti Park is the Central Ridge Reserve Forest area in New Delhi. It was established in 1964 to commemorate the 2,500th anniversary of Lord Buddha's enlightenment. The 81-acre park located on the Central Ridge was inaugurated by former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. It famously houses a sapling from the Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka—a direct descendant of the original tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment.
