Aurangabad (renamed in 2023 as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), is a city in the state of Maharashtra. Aurangabad serves as the administrative capital of its district and is the largest city in the Marathwada area. Aurangabad, situated on elevated mountainous terrain in the Deccan Traps, ranks as the fifth-most populous urban region in Maharashtra, following Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Nashik. The city serves as a principal hub for the manufacture of cotton textiles and creative silk fabrics.
