Trump-Modi Meeting Likely on Sidelines of AI Summit in France

The two presidents had a cordial meeting during which they both pledged to advance their bilateral ties.

Trump-Modi Meeting Likely on Sidelines of AI Summit in France

Following their more than 20-minute cordial phone chat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are on their way to an early summit meeting to establish the framework for bilateral relations between the two countries.

Although the dates are still being finalised, there is a good chance that the two leaders will meet in Washington next month during the artificial intelligence summit in France from February 10–12. The two presidents seemed to agree with the phone call as they talked about bilateral and international issues, with the Israel-Gaza and Ukraine wars at the top of the agenda.

The dates for the summit in India later this year are still being finalised, and the two presidents talked about QUAD in the Indo-Pacific framework. Despite President Trump's remarks about India purchasing fair trade and American-made security equipment, India is a proponent of fair trade and plans to purchase 31 Predator MQ 9B armed drones from the US for USD four billion.

As the 47th President fulfils his electoral pledge to prevent illegal immigration to the United States, President Trump has also assured the media that Prime Minister Modi will act morally. By forcing Colombia to accept illegal immigrants or face trade tariffs and a restriction on US visas, President Trump demonstrated his commitment to halting illegal immigration.

Conversations between the senior leaders and important figures of the incoming administration have been quite constructive, with both sides determined to strengthening bilateral cooperation in all domains. This makes it clear that India-US ties are about to take off in Trump 2.0.

While official confirmation of a bilateral meeting is still awaited, analysts suggest that the global stage provided by the AI Summit could serve as an ideal backdrop for Trump and Modi to reaffirm their shared vision for a strategic partnership.

The world will be watching closely, not only to witness the unfolding of AI-related discussions but also to gauge the dynamics of a potential Trump-Modi dialogue in shaping the future of U.S.-India relations.
