Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Moscow on July 8, commencing a significant two-day visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties between India and Russia. This is Modi's first trip to Russia in 2024, and it is anticipated to strengthen collaboration in several areas, including commerce, energy, defense, and cultural exchange.

 

His itinerary for the first day includes a formal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. The two leaders are expected to engage in comprehensive discussions on a wide array of issues, from geopolitical developments and strategic partnerships to economic collaborations and technological advancements.

 

One of the main focuses of this visit is to enhance defense collaboration between the two nations. India and Russia share a long-standing defense partnership, and new agreements are anticipated to further strengthen this bond. Besides that, economic cooperation between India and Russia will be a major theme throughout the visit. The leaders are set to review the progress of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and explore measures to enhance trade connectivity.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Russia occurs at a critical juncture, demonstrating both nations' determination to strengthen their extensive alliance.
