Billionaire Elon Musk Announces Decision to Cease Using His Phone Number

In his typical casual tweeting style, Elon Musk, the unconventional proprietor of the social media platform X, recently revealed that he plans to ditch his phone number in a few months. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO shared with the online community that moving forward, he will exclusively communicate through text, audio, and video calls on social media, as announced in a post on X on Friday.

X had initially launched a version of video and audio calling for a limited user base last year, a fact disclosed by Musk. Ever since, Musk has passionately championed the transformation of X into an "everything app," labeling the recent development as an "early version of video & audio calling on X. This announcement by Musk comes weeks after the introduction of these features for Android users.

After rebranding Twitter as X, Musk expressed his vision to turn the platform into a super-app, providing a wide array of services including messaging, social networking, and peer-to-peer payments. Conducting tests on the feature in August of the previous year, Musk emphasized that users would no longer require a phone number to access these functionalities, which are compatible with Apple's iOS, Google's Android, and personal computers.

Through his most recent announcement, or what we may also call a strategic marketing approach, Musk aims to promote the audio and video calling features of X, which were launched in October.
