Neeraj Chopra, the double Olympic medallist, announced on Sunday that he competed in the 2024 Diamond League final in Brussels with a fractured left hand. Neeraj finished second in the men's javelin final for the second year in a row, narrowly missing the Diamond Trophy by a single centimetre. Neeraj, who secured the Diamond League title in 2022, produced his best effort of 87.86m on Saturday, coming up just short of defeating eventual champion Anderson Peters of Granada.
The gold champion from the Olympics in Tokyo disclosed on Sunday that he competed in the final despite having a broken hand. In actuality, Neeraj's social media post from the occasion featured a photo of him with a plaster on his left hand. Neeraj is scheduled to see a physician. He has been dealing with a groin ailment throughout the season, which has hindered his efforts to reach the 90-meter barrier.
The international athletics season came to a close with the Diamond League final in Brussels.
