Manu Bhaker became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympic Games

Indian shooting sensation Manu Bhaker has etched her name into the annals of history by becoming the first Indian athlete to win multiple medals at a single Olympic Games. Bhaker's extraordinary performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics has not only brought pride to the nation but has also established her as a formidable force in the world of shooting.

Following her historic bronze in the women's 10m air pistol final on Sunday, the 22-year-old finished third in the mixed team event in the same discipline with Sarabjot Singh. With the win, India added another medal to its collection from the Paris Games, and Manu became the first athlete from an independent India to win two medals at the same Olympics.

At the Chateauroux shooting range, the Indian team defeated Lee Wonoho and Oh Yeh Jin of South Korea 16–10 to take home the bronze. Manu had completed her path of redemption, putting behind her terrible Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020.

Manu became the second Indian after Norman Pritchard to win two Olympic medals in a single Games edition on Tuesday in Paris after taking home a second bronze. But for Pritchard, who won two silver medals at the 1900 Olympics in the 200-meter sprint and 200-meter hurdles, that accomplishment occurred before independence.

Manu will compete in the women's 25-meter air pistol event on Friday, allowing her to win a third medal at the Olympics in Paris.
