IPL Auction 2025: 13-Year-Old Vaibhav Becomes Youngest Crorepati; Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar Fetch Record Bids

On Day 2, Bhuvneshwar and Deepak Chahar were the most expensive; Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 13, was the youngest IPL choice at 1.1 crore

IPL Auction 2025: 13-Year-Old Vaibhav Becomes Youngest Crorepati; Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar Fetch Record Bids

The 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was acquired by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore, making him the youngest player ever selected in the IPL. On Day 2 of the IPL Auction 2025, a bidding battle broke out between South Africa's Marco Jansen and India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar. RCB paid ₹10.75 crore for Bhuvi, the most expensive item at the second auction. The Mumbai Indians gave Chahar ₹9.25 crore, while Akash Deep and Mukesh received ₹8 crore from LSG and DC, respectively. PBKS paid ₹7 crore to acquire Jansen, who had a base price of ₹1.25 crore.

Even though Krunal Pandya has been out of the Indian team for a while, RCB paid ₹5.75 crore to get him, proving that he is still a desirable addition to the IPL. Nitish Rana was not even bid on by KKR. He paid ₹4.2 crore to RR. Rovman Powell was the first player to be sold on Day 2, and Gujarat Titans purchased India's in-form all-rounder Washington Sundar for ₹3.20 crore. KKR acquired the all-rounder from the West Indies for ₹1.5 crore. Faf du Plessis paid ₹2 crore to the Delhi Capitals. Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Shardul Thakur and Prithvi Shaw of India were not sold. Will Jacks of England made waves in the accelerated auction as the Mumbai Indians paid him ₹5.25 crore.

Wadhera went to Punjab Kings for ₹4.20 crore from a base price of ₹30 lakh, and LSG paid the same amount for Samad. Trent Boult of New Zealand, who cost ₹12.50 crore, was the Mumbai Indians' initial selection after they arrived late to the auction. Josh Hazlewood (₹12.50 crore) and Jofra Archer (₹12.5 crore) were the other foreign fast bowlers that made significant sums of money. The Kolkata Knight Riders paid an incredible ₹23.75 crore to bring back the India all-rounder to their roster, making Venkatesh Iyer the richest pick outside of the marquee set. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan found a new home at SRH for ₹11.25 crore.

After Rishabh Pant shattered Shreyas Iyer's record in a matter of minutes and became the most expensive acquisition in the IPL, David Warner was the most expensive player to remain unsold. The Lucknow Super Giants paid an incredible ₹27 crore for the wicketkeeper-batter. This occurred shortly after Punjab Kings shattered Mitchell Starc's record of ₹24.75 crore last year by spending a staggering ₹26.75 crore to get Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer. Arshdeep Singh became the first player to be auctioned in the 2025 IPL Auction after raking in the money. When Punjab Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad using their RTM card, he received ₹18 crore. Kagiso Rabada was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for ₹10.75 crore. For ₹15.75 crore, Jos Buttler was sold to the Gujarat Titans.

The Delhi Capitals paid ₹11.75 crore for the purchase of Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who broke auction records when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹24.75 crore the last time.

The 2025 auction was a testament to IPL’s dynamic nature, blending star power, strategic planning, and emerging talent. As the season approaches, excitement builds to see how these players justify their price tags and deliver on the field.
