International Kabaddi Federation Greenlights World Super Kabaddi League 2025: A Game-Changer for the Sport

The World Super Kabaddi League (WSKL) 2025 has been formally approved by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF). In partnership with the Kabaddi Association of Thailand and the South East Asian Kabaddi Federation (SEAKF), the league is being organised.

The WSKL will operate on a franchise-based model, featuring teams from countries such as India, Iran, South Korea, Kenya, and Canada, among others. This structure is designed to emulate the success of leagues like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), combining sports with entertainment to attract a global audience.   With a projected prize pool of over $10 million, the WSKL will offer kabaddi players an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their skills on a grand stage while earning lucrative rewards.

The league is scheduled to kick off in mid-2025, spanning three months of intense competition. Matches will be held across iconic venues in Asia, Europe, and North America to enhance international outreach. The format will include a round-robin phase followed by playoffs and a grand finale.

In a first for kabaddi, the WSKL will feature both men’s and women’s divisions, promoting gender inclusivity and encouraging greater participation in the sport. The IKF is collaborating with significant investors and sponsors to make sure the league is successful. The WSKL has sparked the curiosity of corporate titans in the media, sportswear, and technology industries.

IKF President Janardan Singh Gehlot stated, “The World Super Kabaddi League represents a new chapter for kabaddi. It’s an opportunity to showcase the sport’s dynamic and strategic brilliance to a global audience. We are committed to making this league a game-changer for kabaddi enthusiasts and players worldwide.”

The sanctioning of the WSKL aligns with the IKF’s vision of expanding kabaddi’s global footprint. With the sport already part of events like the Asian Games, this league is expected to further elevate its profile and inspire a new generation of players and fans.
