Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday released their joint manifesto for the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai. At this time, the Thackeray brothers strongly criticized the ruling Mahayuti.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had recently announced that the mayor of Mumbai will be a Hindu-Marathi. Speaking on this, Raj Thackeray hit back at Fadnavis in his usual style.
Raj Thackeray said, “During the Peshwa's rule, three princely states were created. One is that of the Gaikwads of Gujarat, the other by Scindia, and the third by Holkar. The Kingdom of Baroda was the empire of the Maratha Empire. Then why do all the mayors in Baroda become Gujaratis? This is Maharashtra. The mayor of every city in Maharashtra will be Marathi.
What are you doing here? We are Hindus, not Hindi. In every city of Maharashtra, you should maintain the respect of Marathi. Therefore, whoever becomes our mayor will be Marathi; the mayor of Mumbai will be Marathi,” he said.
