PepsiCo Ups the Ante in India with ₹1,266 Crore Flavour Manufacturing Plant

In a move that promises to significantly impact India's beverage industry, PepsiCo India announced a substantial investment of ₹1,266 crore to establish a new flavour manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This strategic expansion marks a significant step forward for PepsiCo's commitment to the Indian market and its beverage consumers.

The upcoming plant, sprawling across 22 acres, will play a pivotal role in scaling up PepsiCo India's beverage production capacity. This translates to a wider range of beverage options for consumers and a stronger foothold for PepsiCo in the competitive Indian market. The project is expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute positively to the local economy of Madhya Pradesh.

"With the support of the Madhya Pradesh government, we aim to solidify our presence while driving impactful progress in enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region," stated Jagrut Kotecha, CEO of PepsiCo India and South Asia.

Second Flavour Manufacturing Plant in India

This investment marks the establishment of PepsiCo India's second flavour manufacturing facility within the country. The first facility is situated in Channo, Punjab. The expansion reflects PepsiCo's dedication to meeting the ever-growing demand for its beverages in India.

"We are aiming to ramp up production to cater to the rising demand for our beverages in the country," commented George Kovoor, Senior Vice President of Beverages at PepsiCo India. "This strategic investment not only strengthens our commitment to providing our consumers with the highest quality beverages but also reinforces our responsibility to implement sustainable practices across all our operations," Kovoor added.

Sustainability at the Core

PepsiCo India is placing sustainability at the forefront of this new project. The upcoming flavour manufacturing facility will be entirely powered by renewable energy sources, leading to a significant reduction in the plant's carbon footprint. This commitment aligns with PepsiCo's global sustainability goals and reflects a growing trend towards environmentally conscious manufacturing practices in India.

The new facility will also prioritize responsible water management. By implementing zero liquid discharge technology, the plant aims to achieve a remarkable 90% overall water efficiency. This innovative approach ensures that water resources are managed responsibly and that 100% of the water used at the facility is replenished.

A Positive Step Forward

PepsiCo India's investment in a new flavour manufacturing facility signifies the company's confidence in the Indian market and its beverage industry. The project is expected to create employment opportunities, boost beverage production, and contribute to the economic growth of Madhya Pradesh. Furthermore, the plant's commitment to sustainability through renewable energy and water conservation efforts paves the way for a more responsible and eco-friendly future for beverage manufacturing in India.
