Mamaearth, a rapidly growing Indian beauty brand, has set its sights on significant job creation in the coming decade. Ghazal Alagh, the company's co-founder, expressed this ambitious goal following a recent event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged Mamaearth's achievements.

Aalgh's Public Pledge

In response to PM Modi's words of appreciation, Alagh took to social media, stating her commitment to large-scale job creation. "With your blessings and the support of the Modi government, we will create lakhs of jobs in the next 10 years," she declared. Her message also emphasized Mamaearth's vision of promoting Indian beauty on a global scale.

Mamaearth's Rise and Modi's Support

The exchange between Alagh and Modi reflects the growing importance of startups in India's economic landscape. Prime Minister Modi has actively championed the startup ecosystem, recognizing its potential to drive job creation and wealth generation. He specifically highlighted the youthful energy powering startups, especially in smaller cities beyond the metros.

Mamaearth's Journey and Future

Varun Alagh, Ghazal's husband and co-founder, spoke at the event hosted by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. In a video shared by Puri, Varun Alagh recounted Mamaearth's journey since its inception in 2016, following the launch of the Startup India initiative. He emphasized the company's rapid growth, achieving a public listing and employing over 10,000 people within just seven years. Looking ahead, Varun Alagh stressed the need for India to prioritize job creation, quality standards, and research in the coming years.

Beyond Mamaearth: A Look at the Startup Ecosystem

The event brought together prominent figures from India's startup scene. Attendees included representatives from Zomato, OfBusiness, Urban Company, MapMyIndia, Dixon Technologies, Peak XV Partners, and EaseMyTrip. This gathering symbolizes the collective potential of startups to reshape India's economic landscape.

Mamaearth's ambitious job creation pledge, coupled with Prime Minister Modi's supportive stance, paints a promising picture for India's future. The country's thriving startup ecosystem holds the key to unlocking job opportunities, fostering innovation, and propelling India's economic growth.
