Veteran actress Praveena Deshpande, known for her role in Salman Khan's film Ready, passed away on Tuesday (February 17) after a long battle with cancer.

 

She was 60 years old. Her family confirmed the news of her death by sharing a post on her official Instagram account.

 

Soon after this announcement, the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) also expressed its condolences.

 

In a post on its X handle, the association wrote, "CINTAA expresses its condolences on the demise of Praveena Deshpande ji (member since 2008)." During this time, she has also worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema.

 

Praveena Deshpande's Hit Career

 

Praveena Deshpande received a lot of respect for her memorable supporting role in Marathi and Hindi cinema. Although she often appeared in character roles rather than leading lady, her performances were always known for their depth and sincerity.

 

She became a familiar face to audiences of several generations and went on to have an illustrious career in theatre, television, films, and web series.

 

Salman Khan's film got special recognition

 

Many Hindi film watchers love her for role of Shalu Chaudhary in Salman Khan's 2011 blockbuster 'Ready'. Despite having a supporting role, Praveena made a deep impression with her brilliant screen presence. She also worked with John Abraham in films like 'Parmanu', Sidharth Malhotra starrer 'Ek Villain' and 'Jalebi'.

Praveena Deshpande got a lot of popularity on television. She appeared in many well-known shows like 'Ghar Ek Mandir', 'Kumkum', 'Karam Apna Apna' and 'Kulfi Kumar Bajewala'. Her acting in the daily soap made her a household name, especially among the families.
