Tej Pratap Yadav has announced a new political coalition with five minor parties ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, aiming to strengthen his regional influence and expand voter reach.
The announcement came during a press conference in Patna, where Tej Pratap, elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, introduced leaders of the five allied parties and emphasized the shared goal of "bringing real change to Bihar." The coalition, named "Janbandhan Morcha," includes small but regionally influential parties focused on Dalit, minority, and agrarian rights.
Tej Pratap described the move as a “people-first” strategy to challenge both the ruling NDA and the mainstream opposition. While details on seat-sharing and leadership structure are still under discussion, the alliance is expected to contest on a common minimum program based on social justice, employment, and education.
Political analysts view this coalition as a significant tactical shift by Tej Pratap, who has largely stayed in the shadow of his brother Tejashwi Yadav in recent years. This move is seen as an effort to carve out his own political identity ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly polls.
Although the electoral strength of these minor parties is limited, their combined vote base may prove critical in tight constituencies, especially in rural and caste-sensitive belts. The coming weeks will reveal whether this fresh alliance can gain momentum or disrupt the existing political equations in Bihar.
