Virat Kohli as T20 Opener? Gavaskar Re ignites Debate on India's World Cup XI

Gavaskar Reignites Kohli Opening Debate: Should He Partner Rohit at T20 World Cup?

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has reignited the debate about India's opening combination for the upcoming T20 World Cup. In a recent statement, Gavaskar advocated for Virat Kohli to open alongside Rohit Sharma.

Citing Kohli's strong form in the latter half of the IPL season, Gavaskar believes the former captain deserves a shot at the top of the order. He emphasizes that "good players are good players," implying Kohli's past achievements and recent resurgence warrant him a place at the opening.

This isn't the first time Gavaskar has expressed his opinion on Kohli as a T20 opener. The topic has been a point of discussion for some time, with questions lingering about the ideal batting order for Team India.

It's important to note that Rohit Sharma himself might have hinted at the opening combination during the recent warm-up match against Bangladesh. However, with Gavaskar throwing his weight behind Kohli, the selection dilemma for the T20 World Cup XI has gained fresh momentum.
