Amitabh Kant Resigns as G20 Sherpa After 45 Years of Government Service

Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa and a key architect of India’s policy and economic reform landscape, has resigned after completing a remarkable 45 years in government service. His decision marks the end of a long and impactful career that bridged domestic transformation and international diplomacy.

Kant, who previously served as the CEO of NITI Aayog, has been instrumental in shaping initiatives such as ‘Make in India,’ ‘Startup India,’ and 'Ease of Doing Business'. He played a significant role in India’s successful G20 presidency, representing the country on multiple global platforms with visionary leadership and a diplomatic edge.

In his role as G20 Sherpa, Kant led critical negotiations and ensured India's voice remained prominent in global economic conversations. His departure is viewed as the closing of a significant chapter in India’s administrative history.

The government is expected to announce his successor soon. Kant’s legacy will continue to influence India's policy direction, and his leadership model is likely to inspire future bureaucrats and diplomats.
